Ann Coulter has written yet another deluded commentary about the inevitability of Mitt Romney winning the Republican nomination. As others have pointed out, Obama is not bill Clinton and Gingrich is no Bob Dole. And it is Gingrich who is the inevitable nominee, not Romney.
There is, after all, a very good reason that American's cannot and will not get behind Mitt Romney. Yes, it's partially because he believes that he and his people are waiting for the spaceship and that each of them will become gods ruling over their own planets. But Mitt's failure to attract support has a more mundane explanation, especially when he is viewed against fellow candidate Newt Gingrich.
Romney has never been a conservative leader. As governor of Massachusetts, he ruled over the most liberal state in the nation and did his subjects’ bidding by building the evil tower of ObamneyCare---the model for the Dark Tower and lidless eye of ObamaCare. In essence, Romney is a slightly smarter version of John Kerry, making wild claims about his "service" as a Republican soldier, claims which do not match his actual war record.
When your resume includes being the leader of an army of orcs and trolls (in the land of Mordor, no less), you can't very well claim to be a good wizard fighting against the enemies of darkness. Conservatives aren't that gullible or forgetful. Dumb as they are, even the democrats wouldn't fall for that.
As governor of Massachusetts, Romney was not just eating, drinking and sleeping with the enemy, he was their fearless leader. That tops even the enemy cheerleading of Hanoi-Jane during the Vietnam war. Boston-Mitt has about as much of a chance becoming the Republican nominee as Jane Fonda does of becoming our mascot. (How do we know he won't ask John Kerry to be his running mate?)
Ann Coulter (who seems to have lost her senses of late) talks about how the media can't wait to rip Gingrich to shreds, while supposedly being scared to death of Romney. If that were true, then why rip away at Newt NOW? Why not wait until he's the nominee, if they're not afraid of him snapping the faux Obama intellect like a twig and shattering the grand illusion of his supposedly “superior” intelligence?
Obama the intellectual featherweight and Affirmative Action graduate from Columbia and Harvard goes up against the Red Elephant. -- I can't wait!
There's a lot more reason to believe that the half-wit-media prefer Romney as Obama's opponent, as there is less contrast (other than skin color) and they know perfectly well that a Romney candidacy would alienate millions of Christians, especially when the bizarre beliefs of Mormons are blasted across the cable news networks 24/7 once Romney is the candidate and locked in their sights.
As for baggage, Obama's is much heavier than Newt's. Sure, Romney has wedged ObameyCare tightly into a carry-on by denying its true size and implications, but that carry-on seems to follow him everywhere. Besides that he's wearing funny Mormon underwear which are sure to show up once the media hit him with the X-Rays.
The key to understanding Gingrich's ascendancy now is recognizing that (a) the pre-game primary party is almost over and (b) Newt is the only candidate that has led a conservative army into battle against the democrats and forced them to surrender. And just look at what he made them surrender: their sacred Welfare cow -- their biggest treasure. And a balanced budget -- their biggest fear. Just think how much they must truly hate him!!! Generalissimo Gingrich is their worst nightmare come true.
As for the media, Newt has obviously taken a much needed lesson from his undisciplined interview performance last spring. He realizes that they're the enemy, so now he goes on the attack rather than sitting there like a fish in a barrel, or letting them coax him into waxing philosophical, as he did last spring speaking about the Ryan plan.
All Newt has to do, when he is attacked by the dim-wit-media, is calmly return fire. They are not used to people turning the tables on them and, being democrats, they are inveterate cowards who will cringe and crumble before the master orator. Every question they attempt to ambush him with can be answered by reminding them that his life is a matter of public record. Shouldn't they be asking for all of the records hidden by Pinocchio-boy? Americans really want to know how a poor student like Obama managed to get into Columbia and then Harvard with bad grades and who paid for his education.
Newt knows that the best way to confront a mediot is to ask them whether or not they are ashamed to ask such trivial, nonsensical, biased, inflammatory, imbalanced and unfair questions? If you’re a mediot, how do you answer that question? I am not ashamed? That’s what I figured…. If you weren’t so biased you would be….
Consider -- can you think of anyone in the national media that can stand toe-to-toe with Newt Gingrich? We’re talking about someone on the order of a socialist-regressive version of George Will. And such a man does not exist.
As for Obama himself, the debates will be like watching a master school a child, and a shopkeeper catching a thief. Newt should have a list of all of the things Obama has concealed at the ready along with the sound-bite (by Obama) about people who have something to hide. He can use these as a foil whenever the media tries to ambush him with his own baggage by pointing out that people already know all about him, but the media has never asked Mr. Blank-Slate Obama for so much as his college report cards. What do those report cards show that Pinocchio is so afraid of? Over 2 million dolar spent hiding his records and not a whiff of interest or curiosity by the national press corps. -- You know, as in copse-man.....
As for attracting independents, consider who independents are: primarily monied intellectuals who are essentially free-market oriented and fiscally conservative. Socially, they are more liberal, but Team Obama and his costly socialist agenda have breached the boundaries of what independents can reasonably stomach. Besides that, they've had time to listen to the teleprompter and are sick of the broken Obama record playing over and over again, like a 1930s era dance-song in a concentration camp.
Gingrich will attract independents by giving them something to think about -- their favorite pastime. Plus, independents won't be embarrassed by Newt's intellectual reach, as they well might have been by Cain's, or put to sleep by the hollow sounds echoing from the redundant and uninspiring Mitt Romney, who has had 4 years to get rid of that deer-in-the-headlights look and failed.
Finally, there is the global warming photo with Nancy Pelosi. This would normally be unforgivable except that Gingrich has recanted and has become fast friends with Sen. Inhofe, who has been the battlefield commander against AGW in the senate. Newt is smart enough to understand the difference between valid science and the Marxist pseudo-science of the left. He has apparently been brought up to speed on the subject, which is what he's essentially been admitting on national TV. Everyone makes mistakes (except Obama, of course).
Character and integrity show through when you have the moral rectitude to acknowledge your mis-steps. Liberals do not realize this and therefore can never admit they're wrong, for fear of losing their slender grip on reality and losing face, which they avoid by ass-covering. But conservatives value redemption. Liberals are obsessed with condemnation. Their attacks on Gingrich will not only fail, but will draw unwanted attention to their own wooden boy-wonder, Pinocchio, the puppet of Soros, as the public witnesses the enormity of the media's psychosis.
